HOT DME on 964
After not being able to drive my 964 for about a month, i had to take out the DME relay and knock it a couple of times before the engine would start. I guess it was stuck. After driving for about 10 to 15mins, i was going to take out the DME relay to check. But it was so hot that i was almost not able to touch it. Is it a relay problem or is the pump causing the relay to get hot? I know the relay gets warm on normal operations but this was beyond warm.

If you had to smack the DME relay to get your car started then it may be time to replace the relay
![]() Increased resistance due to an old relay may be a reason for a hot DME relay. I did notice this weekend that my ABS relay was quite hot and its not to far away from the DME, also the right fender can get quite hot with the oil cooler and oil lines nearby. *** UPDATED - I drove my C4 tonight for about 20 min and the DME relay did get quite hot but not enough to be concerned about ***

Stephen, thanks buddy. Relay was quite new (less than 4 months) and my pump is brand new. Anyway, will try to change the relay and see what happens. cheers buddy.
