I am trying to do the procedure here to program a new key (original was stolen).The car is a 97 Carrera.

The procedure does not work. The initial unlock/lock/unlock does not seem to take right off the bat (alarm continues to sound). As well, the car only has a door keyhole on the driver side and the passenger side does not lock unlock when the drivers door key is turned. I am wondering if the switch or wires to the driver's door lock could be the problem
Any tips/advice?
