mystery relay

Centre console/tunnel (Passenger side)

small square piece of carpet slides aside to reveal.....



Ejector seat?

I'm pretty sure that is the signal flasher relay.

If it is the signal flasher, turn them on and see if the relay cycles open-closed-open-closed...If it is not the flasher relay, pop it out and see what doesn't work. It looks like a more common relay than the flasher relay to me.

Indeed the flasher relay, by putting on the hazards/flashers you can feel it working with a finger placed on its case.

My last SC had the same component apparently tethered by its loom,
just loose behind fuel gauge, when I found this one by accident cleaning the carpet,

and thought I'd stumbled on Stuttgarts amusing secret weapon

Tell you what, I'll keep looking
