differences between 964 carrera and 964 turbo suspension
have to replace the suspension on a 1991 964 turbo, and am looking around at some of the kits out there versus a stock replacement part. the bilstein pss10 offered on pelican parts has the same part numbers as the carrera 2 kit (and is listed as compatible), whereas both HR and KW have different part numbers and the kits for the turbo are listed differently.
just wondering about cross compatibility between turbo and carrera in terms of suspension. |

The shocks themselves are interchangeable except the ones from a 3.6T which use a bigger bolt oe, base is 4x 12.5, 3.6T uses 2x 12.5 +2x 14x1.5 like 993 uses. Different aftermarket suppliers will handle this differently, i'd go by what the individual manufacturer says . shock top mounts are the same

Just curious - what are you replacing? The coilovers? or the suspension bushings and such? I'd like to hear about what you go with - and why. Thanks.

at this stage just the shock absorber part, as i think that is all that is wrong with it.
i was tempted by a set of MCA custom coilover set up but cannot justify the extra expense over the standard setup. |

Iirc bilstein work at the front all years upto 93 , rears don’t work on early cars . (Early 964 are different at rear so this parts is same for all brands )
HandR use stiffer springs on turbo set-up , just like lowering springs (green are turbo . KandW use later 3.6 type for all 964 , so they’re not a straight fit on the front unless you bush or upgrade to 993 rs uprights . My memory is not as good as it used to be , but I should have offered you enough to research . |
