Help with Removing the Air Bag system

Hey guys,
I had a failure in the brain that controls my 964 airbag system, and with the cost and effort of replacing, I am considering removing the equipment and going with an aftermarket steering wheel, etc. My question, is that when we disconnected the brain and harness, there seemed to be a safety feature that then would not allow the vehicle to start. How are the track guys handling this problem, when they convert their cars to race cars? Anyone else have a solution. Thanks!

I've never heard of this issue. Usually the main problem is the a/b light in the clock

Yea, we already checked the light in the clock, but all signs point back to the brain itself.

I under stand that. the a/b brains do go bad, mine did. But the only issue from removing it is that the light came on and it throws a code(!)

never heard of it's affecting the other functions.
