Requesting approx. time

Hey guys.

I just took my 1993 964 out of winter storage and was about to make a purchase for a quick tune up to get the driving season started. I just wondering about how long it would take to complete the following. I will have access to all tools needed and a lift.

Here we go.

Pelican Tune up kit including:
oil filter
oil change
air filter
fuel filter
Valve cover gaskets (all)
Plugs
Dist cap
Dist Rotors

I am also going to change the Transmission mounts and
replace the fog light bulbs because one is burnt out.

Thanks for the input.

hey

what you are about to do is a decently big job

I'm talking about the valve covers upper and lower, the plugs, and the transmission mounts; i don't really remember how it looks on the 964s because i mostly work on 993s, however, if you never did it before, i advise you to do it with somebody familiar with those cars.

it will probably involve to remove the intake distributor assembly to replace the plugs, the air blower and air intake assembly.

then you will have to remove parts of your exhaust system to have access to the lower valve covers.

regarding the transmission mounts, i don't know if you are award that it's a major pita; you will have to remove the transmission, or you will have to tear the whole car apart if you want to do it without droping the engine / transmission

if you still want to do it by your self, i advise you to take 4 days of holidays

cheers

I'd give myself an entire day to complete everything but the trans mounts (including putting your tools away and cracking a beer) - you'll probably get done more quickly. You are smartly doing them all at once so you won't repeat anything.

I find that the more you remove the easier the job will be. Remove the mufflers and cat. Remove the tins\shields. With everything out of the way, wrenchs move easier and more confidently.

As for the trans mounts - I've never done it so let's see who else chimes in!
