964 spring adjustment
Hi,
I own a 1990 964 C2 with Bilstein HD with Eibach spring. The car is sitting very low especially for our beautifull Canadian road!!! I am going under major rebuilt of my suspension. I have my bisltein shock rebuilt and I am doing everthing to get my suspension in good order. However I have a question regarding the threading on the shock that appear to adjust or compress the spring more. Is anybody can tell me what is the exact purpose of the threading. Thanks. rattlsnak,
Thanks for the reply and the info. ![]() Now since everthing is apart, is there is a procedure I can follow to make the corner balancing myself or I am better off going to go to a known shop (dealer, or tuning shop) My car is sitting on a lift rigth know, therefore I can easly access under the vehicle to adjust. Also the wrench is missing in my toolkit (I don't know if this was part of the toolkit) to adjust the spring heigth, do you know were to get one. I can manufacture one by myself (I have access to a machine shop) but it would be less trouble to purchase it. Thanks, Pat 1990 964 C2 2002 325 XIT |

You can contact Chuck Moreland of Elephant Racing, who posts often over on Pelican's 911 Fourm, to talk about corner balance. You can do it yourself with a good set of scales, some time, and a good bit of thinking. http://elephantracing.com/

Pat,
One factor that no one has mentioned is the fact that the reason your car sits as low as it does is that you have the Eibach springs fitted. One of the main purposes of the Eibach springs is to lower the ride height and no amount of adjustment to the spring perches is going to restore the ride height to the factory level. The Eibach springs are considerably shorter than the factory items and there is insufficient thread length on the Bilstein shocks to compensate. You would be best advised to consider changing the springs while you have it apart to restore the ride height to an acceptable level. Regards Dave |

Dave,
I was aware of the lowering effect of the eibach springs. I did consider to put something less agressive (Beside OEM C2). When I took everthing apart a notice the shock was set at the lowest, meaning the car was also set for the lowest. After long reflection I will put back the springs a have and try to set it higher using the shock adjustment, hoppefully this will make the ride a bit higher and good enough for our third-country road. Also, I bring once and will the car at the track, and putting the car with OEM spring will increase my body roll and my peformance thru corners. Life is a dilema I can tell you that. Thanks for the heads-up, Pat |
