1995 911/993 Techometer computer module light

Hi everyone, I have a situation with a 1995 911/993 that I am about ready to surrender on. When I shut off the car, the computer display module that is located at the bottom of the tachometer stays illuminated and will not go out. If I do not drive my car for 5 days, it kills the battery. Do I need to replace the techometer or have any of you experienced and/or fixed this before as a DIY? Thank you

Hi there.

My computer display also remains illumitated after the ignition is turned off.
I think it's a signal from the central locking (to show the doors have been
locked) which turns it off completely.

I'm just popping out to the car to check.

Yep, just checked.
The display remains illuminated until the moment the door is locked
once you have left the car.

Hope you get it sorted.

I have a similar problem, but in my case the display was also freezing the last value, I open the unit and reweld several pins that I can see not shiny, after that the unit works again. there is also the professional way to do it and send it to North Hollywood Speedometer and Clock Company. It can be a key problem, or the tach. There is a transistor that is known to go bad, & it can cause the light not to go out.

Here is a link to fix it.
