1995 c2s ?
I'm shopping for a 95 993 and comes across this "c2s". I don't think they make the S model until 97 do they?
Also does the "Carrera S" logo looks right and is this the wide body rear? Thanks. ![]() |

I think you are correct. I would get the VIN and check it out at PCNA.

Not sure about the year models, but all the S models Ive seen also had the split retractable tail. Also, does this have the big brakes on it? And yes, the script is wrong on the back.
This is correct: http://www.cartype.com/pics/4373/full/porsche_911-993_carrera_s_coupe_vent_97_sm.jpg |

No S's made in 95 and that is not a widebody.
Careful with cars from Texas. Easy to wash titles there.

Hi guys,
Definitely not a c2s! They were only introduced for model year2007 and they have a kidney shaped rear grille which is unique to the C2S. Also the car in the photo is not a wide body. The 97 C2S is an awesome car, hope you manage to find one the hunt will be worthwhile for sure. Good luck and enjoy the hunt.... Here is a picture of mine, hope you like it! ![]() ![]() Cheers Chris Last edited by Cp993; 09-14-2010 at 02:02 PM.. |

The CarreraS was only produced in 1996-1997 and sold in North America until 1998, with a total of 759 imported in 1997 and 993 in 1998. The factory wide bodies will have a correspondingly wider flared rocker panel that intergrate into the wider rear fenders, the signature split Carrera grill painted to match as well as the turbo front nose with larger openings. The CarreraS came with standard brakes, unless they were ordered by the owner, the Carrera4S came with the big red brakes. On the interior "CarreraS" is printed on the bottom of the speedometer, while the inset panel of the dash and door panels will have a black pebble grained (basketball like) textured leather. The picture above is definitely NOT correct!

Hi Harlan,
Thats pretty intersting about the numbers of cars in the US for the C2S. I think in Australia there was only around 85 all up and only for the 97 year. I will have to check but I dont think we got any for model year 98. I actually have the list and numbers of each color that came into the country as well somewhere. Due to the scarcity they are holding their values very nicely here. Cheers Chris |

Chris,
993 production ended in December 1997 after which the production line switched to building the 996. Porsche North America is almost always a model year behind, so my C2S with a build date of 12/97 but was sold here in 1998. So you will never find a 993 with a build date after 12/97. These cars will probably be always desireable being that they represent an end of an era of refinement of the aircooled Porsche.

Actually I think 95 cars were imported into Aus. I have seen cars with late 96 build plates as well.
That aside..just remember the C2S has a varioram engine that was only introduced in model year 96. There are references on the internet to 95 C2Ss. So I suspect some may have been made in late 95. Checking with PCNA is the safe option for any car. |

Yes you are right, it was 95, of which 8 were black metallic & 22 were arctic silver. Harlan, you are right I think about the air cooled giving additional desirability.
I feel very lucky to own what is in my opinion a truly great car Cheers Chris |

You have to wonder why anyone would mis-label their cars. I see M logos on BMWs that aren't M cars, etc. You have to laugh.
