993RS clone pics, the result of phase 1-7

Why? because I feel like it.
At Montecello for the first track workout w/ all the mods, this is waht a 993 should handle like!

also very acceptable street behavior, throw the floor mats in, strip the #s, swap tires and adjust shocks. This is what Porsche should have offered to US purchasers as a sport option.

I'm absolutely thrilled w/ the result, it's a clone yes, doesn't have the pedigree but I feel as if I have created the essence of the RS. The lucky owners of the oem RS know what I am feeling, to everyone else it's worth it.

Interior is not done, that's Phase 8 for winter of '09-10
but here's where we are as of now

harnesses are removed for normal daily street use, I just have aluminum floor boards w/ throw in mats.

I need some blue vinyl for the RS door cards and would like to get some l/w blue carpet to do the rear area. If these 2 items can't be found I'll have to go to readily available black carpet and door cards as a 2nd choice. I already have a spare console still deciding if I want to cut it down as that's only realy necessary if you run the stock seat belt recievers on the outside of the seat.

Would also like the replace the air bag knee cushins w/ the older style in blue(black as a second choice)

Still to be determined is the radio/speakers, I never listen to it but sort of feel obligated to retain at least 2 speakers like I did w/ my silver C3

I think all the 964 blue dash parts were more of a navy blue. Maybe find the correct blue in leather and cover the black ones like the factory did.

a very unique car, just like your ground breaking early hotrod.

Hi Bill,

the car looks great and I prefer the new black recaro seats.... I never said anything before but the blue seats you had before looked horrible . Its much better now.

With the new suspension, does it have a little more of that light feel of the early cars?

Thanks

Much, much better, my C3 feels like a truck in comparison. The p/s will never have the on center 'lively steering wheel' that the early cars have but it more than makes up for it in the ability to turn quickly(much faster ratio16.48 vs 17.78) when needed and yet be stable otherwise.

I've also come to appreciate the 120* tooth cut on the steel syncros a lot more, they are coarse in feel but very quick and positve to engage.

Just to keep it all in one place

Phase 1 factory M002 RS aerokit

Phase 2 factory 993RS brake calipers and rotors

Phase 3 factory g50/30 Cup trnamission, clutch & flywheel

Phase 4 JIC suspension

Phase 5 3.8 RS engine

Phase 6 GT2 second oil cooler & RS uprights/tierods

Phase 7 993RS suspension arms, bushes & solid rear sidemounts

Phase 7b Recaro SPG XL seats, done concurrently w/ P7 but it was such a headache that I thought it deserved it's own thread. Concurrent & subsequent w/ the seats I've also been experimenting w/ chips, currently a Steve W. v2 chip is in there and performing admireably the DME was slightly relocated to facilitate this process. Geoffrey may still talk me into doing a Motec after his knock sensor training

Love your car. I vote for black door panels and carpet. Got a sound clip you can post?

+1. I prefer the Touring wing on a street car; save the big wings for the track.
