Unhappy 964 to 993 position sensor update

aloha, i'm replacing the position sensor on my tiptronic 1991 964 and the new 993sensor has an oval plug and my old one was rectangular. i got the required adapter from pelican but don't know which wire goes on which terminal as the wires from the harness are color coded however the new part is sealed and there's no way to tell which terminal on it is which color wire. the harness wires are white, brown and black(i can see the black is from the woven sheilding on the harness. anybody had to deal with this issue. i can't see a way to figure this out. PLEASE PLEASE somebody help. cheers, geoff

I had to use an ohm meter to figure mine out. Either that, or pop off the cover of the connector

White is signal, brown is ground, black is shield. You can connect the white to the brown and the other way around but the shield carries no signal at all. It was this way on mine anyway.

I hope this helps,
Mark
