first time aircooled need help with cel
need some advice. 1992 engine on a 1990 c2. Engine runs fantastic, but just got a solid check engine light. I believe i'm getting 21 solid flashes. Actually, they are audiable clicks/beep sounds. The light doesn't flash at all, but I can hear 21 clicks and it pauses and repeats. Sooooo, I believe it is a airflow sensor fault. What next? Car runs fine as i can tell. MAF is somewhat new. Also, it has an aftermarket performance chip i believe as well. I don't know the manufactorer yet. Many thanks for any help. Oh, and also the door locks won't stay down. But alarm works. Sorry, but I'm feeling in the dark here. My 996 was very different....kinda like a porsche with training wheels

The aftermarket chip certainly throws a question in the normal process. If it were my car, and lacking access to a Bosch Hammer, I'd use CRC mass airflow cleaner on the sensor, reconnect all the plugs (to check for contact corrosion), then disconnect the battery overnight to clear the flags.

thanks for the reply Don. That def. is my take. I wasn't sure if the airflow sensor meant the MAF or something different. Anyway, thanks again for the advice.

why don't you just scan your ecm? with an obd interface?
you will just need the round plug adapter or take your car to a specialist; you should get the codes for $50 the best is to reset all the previous error codes, and then drive 20km to see which ones gets back in the memory. Then you can start to investigate the causes |
