Anyone use the WEVO shift coupler?
Looks like my coupler has seen better days. Instead of stock replacement I found this. Not cheap but don't ask what the stock piece costs. I'd have to make my own for that money ....
Pelican Parts - Product Information: WVO-PSJ-993 ![]() Any of you have experience with this piece? Only down side may be louder interior noise. I don't mind the right noise, but transmission whining like I have heard it in cars with solid mounts etc. can be very annoying. Please let me know! would the FD golden rod conversion work for you?
FD Motorsports - Short Shift Kits, Shift Rods, Rothsport Short Shift, Porsche Clutch Kits 993 2WD Conversion NVH has not notable increased for me.

Thanks for your input! That's intriguing. So you run that rod? Only down side is that it isn't nicely packed in a boot like the Wevo unit, OTOH it is "one piece and follows what the factory did, what could be better? ![]() A little more reading even brought to light some people that replace the rubber disk with a set of same thickness washers. ![]() Now I only need to resist the urge to install a short shift kit. I don't mind the relatively large throw - it gives very clear indication where you are at and the gears go in easier. G |

Hi George, I have a vested interest, so should offer that first......
However, I have a bone stock '95 993, 130K miles, that we have used as a test mule for several WEVO product development exercises for that series. The ONLY WEVO product left that remains on the car is the 993 PSJ as it made no increase in noise (to our ears) but left a nice crispness in the shifter that did not exist previously. This is a car with stock everything, so a very true test of the change in the NVH quota. Regards, Hayden |

i am in the process of going back to AWD after i had done AWDectomy 2 years ago.
i needed a goldenrod or similar to do the conversion. i like the GR and will keep it when i go back to AWD. i'm not a big fan of the SS kit, shift action is not as "precise", but that may be just because i also switched from the AWD mounting configuration at the same time i tried the SS kit. AWD shifter mounts to the big black TQ tube shaft, RWD shifter mounts to a "flimsy" sheetmetal box. good luck Craig

I appreciate the input. What I like about the WEVO coupler is the self contained joint (I do plan on keeping the car for a long time) and the fact that I don't have to mess with the shifter end of the rod. Now that the trans is coming out, this will be a perfect time to do the replacement in 10 minutes time! Cheers, George |

Just wanted to update this thread. I ended up buying the WEVO coupler and it is a top notch piece and works great. I can't comment if it helped on the shifting or not as the transmission was totally rebuilt, so I changed two things at one time. There is no noise increase or vibration of the shifter.
If you need another 993 test mule, let me know. ![]() Cheers, George |
