96 4wd

I am considering purchase of a 1997 4WD manual trans 911. I have owned many, many 911s but never a 4WD and wonder if this model, especially at its age and 92K miles, is something to avoid. The car performs well at the moment but I don't want to buy something that is likely to present problems.

ANOTHER QUESTION: Can the front drive be disconnected and the
car utilized as a 2WD?

Thanks

A 92 964, is NOT a 97 993. Apples and oranges.
You'd get a much better response at rennlist.com in the 993 forum.
As good as Pelican is for early through 80's 911, Rennlist is for 993/996/997 and maybe even 991's.

Yes, it can easily be disconnected and removed from the the car if you so desire

+993 Bill knows, sage advice. Lots of details on how it works over on Rennlist.

More than a few track-ers have removed it for better handling (weight savings and 2wd goodness) and others have left it intact for the AWD benefits off track and in the elements driving (on and off track). Save the parts if you do remove it for the next owner.
