Porsche dealership wants $110 to program this remote. It didn't sound like they wanted to tell me my code. Don't blame them if they can make a quick buck. Is this a bit high $ ?

It is a real PITA to do the 993 coding. (Sometimes the code number is hand written on the immobilizer.) In any case You should get the IPAS sheet from Porsche for your car.
For the 993 you have to read their transliterated instructions 10 times to get a sense on the steps that have to be performed. And there are a lot of little issues that might crop up to prevent the coding from going through.
It is well worth the money to pay them to do it.

Do a search on Rennlist, they have good write ups on the matter.

Looks like I'm out of luck on my fob. Dealership told me it was a option on 95 993 cars. My car didn't have the option. How a car can be locked and alarm set. Door led flashing and yet have no way to program a remote is quite strange ? On the upside I do have a like new yet worthless porsche fob to look at : /
