993 Oil leak - Front main seal??
Hello,
I seem to have a small oil leak in the front of the engine. Looks like it is coming down between the engine and engine carrier. Is this likely to be front main seal /Crank seal? Can this be fixed without removing the engine?

I'm assuming this is the part of the engine that is closest to the rear bumper. If yes, this could be your #8 bearing outer seal and can repaired with the engine in the car.
You would need to remove the crankshaft pulley to get to this seal. It's about a $30 dollar part, but about 3 hours in labor....I think. It took me about 45 minutes to remove the crankshaft pulley on one of my diy jobs at home. Not that bad actually. You'll need a big torque wrench to torque the crankshaft bolt to the correct torque sequence. Thank you, dmark9 |
