Has anyone Dyno tested this mod and if so how much HP gain can be expected? Is there also a throatier sound like that of the MotorSound Option?

Fabspeed claims 8hp with their open airbox system. I have seen several threads on this or drilling circular holes in airbox cover, from what I can deduct it's more sound than any real hp gain.
Porsche 964 Carrrera with Fabspeed CUP Airbox - YouTube Your best bet for hp gain is Cat-by-pass pipe and primary muffler by-pass pipe.

Yes it's been dyno'd (per Steve Weiner of Rennsport Systems) and is effective for 2-3hp. Sounds b!tch'n too!
