Has anyone used Fabspeed Cat Bypass

I'm thinking of purchasing the Fabspeed cat bypass, will I have OBDII issues?

My car has one. No issues. It has a bung for the o2 sensor. You will want a wong chip set up for it though.

I've installed 5 of their systems. Expect a certain amount of tweaking to get it to fit. A torch helps.

Be prepared for a rather unpleasant odor when cat is no longer there, didnt realize how bad it is until I got behind a ricer who had modded his system

Is your car OBD equipped?

I just bought a 97 993 , I know that the OBD II cars have sensors before and after the cat, Once the cat is no longer there, the sensor will read as being to rich. i'm pretty sure that the engine light would come on at least and maybe the DME would try to lean it's self out , not sure

I bought one for my 964... ran fine, no warning lights etc..
Didn't seem to increase the volume of the exhaust either...

However, the smell was horrible.. I really didn't know to expect that. It always smelled like a rich running car.. when we stopped at the lights, the smell would blow in the car...

After a couple of months, I have the stock cat back on... car runs clean now.

I have the cat bypass on my 98, CEL comes on some times but engine runs fine and sounds great.
94targaC2 is correct about the odor. 02 front sensors are used only, rear ones not. I will be selling my in a few weeks if you need a set. Need to install Cat for possible sale. Mark

I have their sport cat, and secondary muffler delete. Sounds great, no complaints.

Installed a cat bypass, with existing cup pipe. The bypass definitely make the car sound more raspy, but in a good way. Also did a sw chip and I could feel the power improvement. BUT the smell is probably going to be a deal killer, I might be overly sensitive but the smell gives me a headache.

Any feedback if a sport cat would still allow for the sound and power advantage, without any smell? Anyone also make the switch due to smell and happy with the sport cat. I know some of you guys don't smell anything, so I'm looking for feedback from folks that do notice the smell.

I have a 95 with fabspeed cat bypass and maxflows. I ran it with the sport cats for a few months then put the straight pipes in for a track day. I left the straights in and you can REALLY smell the difference. Those sport cats scrub the exhaust a lot more than I thought they would. I've gotta get them back on

My wife is the primary driver of a 964 with Fabspeed cat bypass and muff delete. Yeah there is some smell but we don't mind.
I happen to have some really cool old carb 911 cars and they also smell. So I guess - odor is in the nose of the beholder.

The sound, the throttle response and all the other benefits (40 + lbs lighter in the rear) are clear winners.

if the smell is bugging you swap them out. thats part of the beauty of the fabspeed system. Ive installed 3 sets of fabspeed sport cat cross pipes in the last 5 years and have been really impressed with the fit, hardware and function of all the units (all on 993s). Each of the cars with sport cats (including my own) do not smell even the slightest bit. It'll still sound great, your muffler will make a big impact on that.

Foxman here. Good to see you positing over here. I've been running with the sport cats for a while now, but I just picked up a pair of the bypass pipes. I'd like to avoid a CEL on my '97C2S. Is there anything I need to be concerns about? I'm hoping to just get the O2 sensors out of the way and use bungs so I can quickly switch back and forth without messing with the 02 sensors.

hey fox! the bypass pipes have the holes for the 02 sensors right? i think the spacers should still work, i would use spacers from the get go, is that what you're planning? we havent done a 993 with bypass here, we have only done the sport cats and all have been trouble free install and post install.

Just added the Fabspeed cat bypass, maxflo exhaust and SW chip. Very noticeable improvement in sound and performance.

No stink noticed (at least not yet after a couple hundred miles) with windows down or top down (Cab).

I love my sport cat and supercup setup! Most people have positive responses when hearing it for the first time. Caveat: primarily track use and not a daily.

I had the bypass for three years, very nice sound but the smell was to much. Put cat back on and purchased the Fister Stage III exhaust....Mutch better sound and the smell was gone. Mark
