Don at PP......request

Don, can you post a picture of your modified exhaust tip. I heard that you have a GHL exhaust and modified or fabricated a new oval tip from the original round one. I went with the 4" tip and was considering the same mod.

Thanks,

Hey John,
My tip started out as a Bullseye tip that GHL sent over with the muffler. I ran it for awhile but just didn't care for the look. It was a little to Honda for me. See below. I will need to shoot a pic tonight of the modified tip.
I had to cut out the center first, but just put it in a vice and cranked it down until it was the shape I wanted. I had to put it in the vice at different angles to get the desired shape.
Now I'm going to remake the tip again, but it will have the new Porsche side by side look, similar to the Techart tip.
Looks cool and I have the SS tubing. Just waiting on time (haha) and my buddies chop saw. Give me a few more weeks, but maybe more with Kim in the Hospital.

Interesting, the tip I received was not the bullseye type. Here's a pic:

Thanks Don for the pix. I await your follow up.

Hi John,
Hows this pic ? My next tip will look better, but this one is cool for now. It was a quicky job the day I was leaving for a Porsche event. In fact the bend isnt perfect and the tip is off center just a little bit.
What wheels are on your C2 ? Looks like Fuchs ?
Thanks and hope this helps,
Don

Don, they're cup2's. Eventhough they're not period correct, I LIKE 'EM!

Can you give me more details on your procedure. Did you use a vice? Mine looks a little too 'rice' for the car and I might give it a try.

Did you go with the full GHL headers system or just a muffler? I went with the whole system. I know I'm taking a chance with the smog patrol here in CA, oh well!

Hi John,

Not much too it. Wrapped a towel around it, opened the bench vice, made sure the longest part of the tip was centered, put the tip in 3/4's the way in the vice, tightened the vice until it was about the shape I wanted, removed and checked shape.
I didn't center the longest part of the tip, so I had to work the tip in the vice and reshape it.
It wasn't really any big deal and yes the 4 inch tip is just a little to large when round.

Just the muffler, but would like the complete system. With the complete set up, its 28HP if I remember correctly.
You do not have cats ? If not, cant you just add in the high flow cats.
Basically I have spent as much $$ as I can right now, maybe down the road.
What have you modified and same john the used to own the 914..
Don
