996tt rear spoiler issues
One side gets caught up a little and gets stuck. Then the dash light does on. There is fluid on the one ram. Does this mean a complete rebuild to make work properly again?

What was yours doing or not doing? What repairs did you make?

Same as yours
it was sticking on one side we changed O rings and that did work but after two weeks it started doing it again so I bought an entire new assembly |

Just had the wing motor replaced on the '15 911 under warranty. It was parking a bit cock-eyed and the panel gap on the RH side was way off. Tech said there was a spring that breaks in the motor mechanism causing it to not retract properly. Dealer fix to replace the motor was $3500, cheerfully covered under CPO warranty. Somewhat common problem I'm told.

I just purchased a 2002 Porsche 911 Turbo, knowing it had a spoiler issue that needed to be resolved. I'll probably go with the Rennkit option (once I refill the bank account) but was wondering if I can disable the "auto-deploy at 70+ mph" feature as a short-term option to eliminate the fault warning light? I don't plan to track the car, so most driving will be close to speed limits...

I don't think you can disable the auto deploy in order to eliminate the fault warning light as not having the spoiler deployed at speed is a safety issue. I realize it is a real nuisance to have any fault light on. Repairing the spoiler can be DIY, but you have to take the spoiler apart and the 7 clips that hold the lower edge of the rubber bellows will need to be replaced. Putting them back on is a minor pain in the ass. The Rennkit option may be a simpler solution. Congrats on the new wheels. If my 996 were a turbo, it would be a widow maker.
