How do I install a Window Microswitch

Hi,
The drivers side window on my 996 911 cab will not go down when I open the door. I was told to replace the microswitch and received the new one today. Does anyone know how to do this replacement?

Thanks

Steve

There are several micro switches involved in lowering and raising the window automatically. How the action is failing will determine which switch is bad. One switch is triggered by the inside door handle, one by the outside door handle, and one on the latch itself.
To get to these switches you have to remove the door panel, little lights, trim and insulating pad. The switches are secured with screws. Changing out the latch switch requires small hands and patience to reach it.
There are videos on line that take you through the process. Be sure you have identified and ordered the correct bad part and test before you put the door back together (test is only good if part has totally failed and not just intermittent).

Anybody know what the part numbers are for these switches. The car I'm looking has a problem with the window staying down when the door latch is pulled. Example: When opening the door from the outside the window drops but as soon as the door is opened and the handle is released the window goes back up. Same when inside the car and the latch is pulled to open the door. I believe that this would be the door latch switch that doesn't activate holding the window down until the door is closed again.
Thanks,
John

More times than not if you’re talking about the window dropping a bit and then raising after shutting the door it’s the window regulator having play from the cables stretching and the regulator needs to be replaced.
