Newbe needs help

New to this board and new to Porsche. Looking for some help on purchase of 1999 911 with 9300 miles on it. Posted on other forum and suggested I come here.

Car looks and runs great. No leaks or any wear and tear. Not a scratch on ding, and comes with 2nd top.

Called a couple of Porsche dealers and they said that if it is in that kind of condition, buy it. Cars are solid.

Also, off brand dealer who took car on trade in wants to sell me after market warranty through Fidelity. Any suggestions if this is a good idea? If so, what could be the problems I would want to make sure are covered?
Thanks

Have a pre-purchase inspection (PPI) completed by an independent mechanic before you drop your cash.

A PPI is the best way to rule out known problems, discover problems, and confirm no prior damage to the vehicle. You will find this money well spent.

Regarding the warranty question, I am not an expert in this area.

With that lower mileage on a 1999 I would think that the warranty would be a very good idea. If I understand correctly there are several issues that may or may not show on the 3.4 engines. With mileage at less than 10k then they haven't really been given an opportunity to show up or be corrected.
Make sure the service history ties in with the mileage. These cars are very well built and will easily hide higher mileage. My 2002 has 50k on it but several people ask me if it's new - no I'm not joking!
Other than that I have to agree with Mookster on the Pre Purchase Inspection. If the seller is as good and honest as you think then they'll have no problem with you taking it to another shop for a good looking over.
Good luck and don't forget to post the pictures.

Good ideas, and I did check it out.

Now, new question...I was playing around with the cenrtal locking system, it worked fine, and now I have done something that it does not seem to work.

If I push the lock button on the key once, it beeps at me one time and the light on the dash does a double blink. According to the manual, this means something is not close e.g. door, hood, engine compartment lid, soft top lid, or inside console. I checked and rechecked each one, opened and closed, but it still beeps once and double blinks. It worked before I started playing around by one single blink and no beeps. I know, stupid question, but I got to learn somehow. Thanks.

Welcome to the board! With that mileage it should be a great buy, as per inspection.

When I lock mine(press the button on the key once) it blinks twice, and blinks once when I unlock it. You gotta fix it how ya gonna get your girl in first?

Good luck.

Regards,
