Racing History for my 1971 911T
Hoping someone can help me tracking down the history of my 1971 911T
I have a 1971 911T that I bought about 10 years ago and wondering where I can get any history on this car with VIN # 91111009020000000.. What I know it was a track car I believe in Utah. Looking at the engine there is no serial number but has the 911/51 stamp is still there indicating it is a 2.4 and not original to the car. Told this is likely a factory case rebuilt motor. It is a 2.4 with E cams and the upgrade to hydraulic cam tensioners that weren't available until '84 so some work was progressively done over the years. With that said the Speedometer had 50K miles and assume this engine has something less than that since it is not original. When I pulled it from the car is had a set of 46mm Weber's on it. Any help is greatly appreciated and the remote chance some recognizes this car from the Utah (I believe Utah is correct but not positive but out west) circuit back in the '70's or where I can find any racing history otherwise ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Do you have any info on organizations it raced with (SCCA, IMSA, etc) or owners’ names?

pretty unique body work. I suspect if you ever saw it you'd remember it.

The bodywork is the race bodywork that AIR made for IMSA racing. It was commonly used in the 70s and 80s. The car looks like a track weapon, but maybe mixed street/track use. Note the license plate frame, passenger seat, and front bumper reflectors.

At best, this was someones DE/Track/"Hot rod" car. Not a true "race car" in the traditional sense. Good luck finding out more about your old toy. As a '71, it was relatively "worthless" by the late 1970s or early 1980s vs a new 911. Very common starting point to build a car of "your dreams". This looks like one of those cars.
