WAY TO GO!!!!!

Jack Olsen 04-22-2004 05:33 PM

We need to set up a celebratory beer night, since the Olsen/Schmidt/TRE Motorsports team won overall in touring, defeating (arguably) the fastest stock-and-street-tired Viper on the West Coast, many fast Vettes, a handful of tweaked EVOs and lots of other fast cars. :)

(And the car didn't have a single issue the whole week.)

DByers 04-22-2004 05:35 PM

How in the **** did my post get before yours since I read yours first and responded to it?

Oh well

Again - YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!!

Viper and Vette racers,,,
who's your daddy, say my name!
No issues too, congrats for sure.
Great effort, fantastic results!

911ctS 04-22-2004 08:11 PM

Congrats guys!! Thats a huge deal beaitng all those cars. GOOD JOB.

Damn, I love these 30+ year old cars that we drive.:D

Jack Olsen 04-22-2004 09:07 PM

Thanks, guys. I'll write up a diary thread of the whole event when the pictures come in.

Here are the final results. Tyson did our driving at Las Vegas, Sears Point, and Buttonwillow. I did Willow Springs and Thunderhill. As you can see, he was a little bit better at keeping up with the Viper.

As the event wore on, quite a few of the drivers of other makes came over to ask us about what would be involved in setting up a 911 as a track car. Nothing advertises a model better than when the other drivers can only see its rear end when its out on the track. ;)

Congrads guys! Team tre does it again!

Tyson Schmidt 04-22-2004 10:08 PM

And Mr. Jack Olsen joins the ultra-exclusive "1:30.xx on street tires at Willow club". http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/...s/beerchug.gif

And I join the "ran my first two sessions ever at Sears Point in the pouring rain while trying to get in some good lap times and managed to not put the car into the wall" club.

Ever hit a puddle mid-apex in a 2450# car with 3 degrees of negative camber and 255/315 dry tires? Let's just say I'll be using a little extra bleach when I launder my whites. :D

Chuck Moreland 04-22-2004 10:11 PM

Way to go guys, you did a great job. Not bad for a 32 year old T2 car.

I joined Jack and Tyson and ran at Thunderhill and Sears.

The EVOs did drop like flys. I saw the carnage of one that did cartwheels off Thunderhill turn 8, literally end-over-end four times. Amazingly both driver and passenger came out with only minor injuries. The car didn't have cage, yet the cabin really stayed intact while the overhangs took the impact.

Another burnt a piston at Sears, running 18 lbs of boost!

Fast as they are, the EVOs had trouble finishing the week. BBII really kicked ass with realiability, consistancy, and some pretty talented drivers.

I did take a few pictures, but the only action shot I got was this one.

Jack seems to be having some problems with his pants.

What is he putting in that tank?

Jack Olsen 04-22-2004 10:20 PM

Oh, man. Those jeans were a few sizes too big, and my belt was still in Los Angeles. I was showing major plumber's crack all day.

I ended up buying a belt that night.

rich22 04-22-2004 10:29 PM

Jack, whatever happened to Chris O'Connor from San Diego? He's on the entry list but no result at the first track.

MMARSH 04-22-2004 11:01 PM

Congrats. Way to go on the touring Overall win.

Bad enough for them all to get beat by a 32 y.o. car, but add in that the owner wears his jeans gangster style w/ the boxers sticking out the top and listens to M&M really loud on the track, that must have KILLED THEM!! ;) :D

Way to go, bad hombres! REPRESENT! http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat3.gif http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat6.gif

}{arlequin 04-23-2004 06:09 AM

Congratualtions to both of you. Great beastly machine and its' two good handlers.

Jeremy Cottrell 04-23-2004 07:01 AM

Yahoo!!! Congrats guys! It was torture all week waiting for the next days results. It was like an automotive soap opera. So, what about next year? Do you think the competition will cook up something new or will they merely give up to the superiority of the 32 year old car.

JTO 04-23-2004 09:04 AM

Tyson and Jack,

Terrific job! This was an exciting thing to read about. I felt proud and honored to own and love these old masterpieces.

Maybe you can make this into a movie in the vein of that motorcycle cult classic (what is it?) On Any Sunday (or something?)

Cool Guys! Celebrate.
Troy

Hans Stoehr 04-23-2004 09:22 AM

I never doubted the outcome for a moment....awesome. Porsche, there is no substitute

Zeke 04-23-2004 09:26 AM

Nothing to add but congrats. Being prepared and driving cool and consistant will get the job done. This is just excellent!

TRE Cup 04-23-2004 09:50 AM

Congratulations on the win!! tough competition with the Viper and initially, the Evo's. GREAT JOB!!!!!!
