DL1 or DL90 Dataset with RPM and Lambda
I'm curious as to whether I can use the data acquired by the Race Technology DL1 or DL90 to create a synthetic dynamometer display: torque, Hp, and AFR vs. RPM. I'm sure it will take a bit of data filtering and manipulation, but maybe it can be done. If it can, then I can partially justify the cost of a DL1 by eliminating the cost of chassis dyno sessions. I don’t have a data logger as yet, so I’m looking for a dataset containing RPM and lambda voltage in addition to the default set of variables. Do any of you have such a dataset that I could play with? None of the datasets on the Race Technology website have RPM or lambda. One of their support folks is going to look for me, but he doesn’t think that they have one because, “but I have to admit most my test data is done on magazine and race test/instruction days, and there often isn't time to connect much in the way of sensors.”

I think I may have some, last year I hooked up a www.diy-wb.com O2 kit to my car for some runs.
It looks like it is working. I seem to have a lot of jitter in my readings both rpm and O2 but you are welcome to the data. Send me an email and I will send you some raw data. Jim

I have lots of data logged from a DL90, however none of it has Lambda.I do have RPM logged though.
The Race Technology software has options for power output, torque. etc. You create a model of your car. and use that when you crunch the raw data. There are applets where you can calculate Cd and rolling resistance to further refine your data. You can set up data outputs via. bar graphs or line graphs, scatter plots etc. You can also create a virtual dash, you choose which functions you want the gauges to display.

I've been thinking about doing this as well. I believe you are on track.
Jim, you might look into the filters. Specifically defining that the measurements can only change by so much over a certain period of time. This cut way down on my "jumping" when I was logging my ignition advance from the Electromotive units. In addition there is a "gain" tyoe setting that also helps.

Jim Hamilton was nice enough to send me some DL90 data. My first attempt yielded some encouraging results. I think the results would be much better if the data came from some straight line, WOT, acceleration runs, like a drag strip. The data filtering and manipulation was tedious and time consuming, but, if I end-up doing it frequently, I’m sure that I can do it programmatically. I’m not that interested in getting highly accurate values, I’d just like a tool that would help me learn if a particular change was for the better or not.
