Pilot Sport Cups "Air Pressures"

I am using Pilot Sport cups for the first time. anyone have experience on what tire pressures to use for a 993. I am hearing as low as 22 PSI to start, with after sessions of 27 PSI. Many thanks!!

wow. that sounds low to me. Use what feels good to you, but I would think you would want a "hot" pressure in the mid-high 30's.

I try for 34 front hot with an extra pound in the rear. Above 36 the grip seems to fall off pretty quickly. I usually start at 26/27 cold to achieve this. YMMV depending on your set-up.

One more tip - MPSC take longer to get heat into them than any other tire I have tried. Be very careful on your out laps of Session 1 and work up your speed slowly. Once they are up to temp they are a great tire but be patient until they are.

run them on street same as placard on car states. my 87 911 states 29/32.

calif. mtr. speedway was wayyyyy different. 29 frt left 27 frt right 31 left rear 29 right rear. worked perfect!

nowhere else (PIR and FIREBIRD INTL) could we achieve the speeds we did on their 2.8 mile track. going from turn 4 into turns 1 and 2, we were at WFO in 5th gear! hit it low on the apron, hit it middle, hit it high. the best was low going into turn 2 and then the track basically pushes you up to wall w/in inches!

how fast were we going? havent a clue??? didnt take my eyes off track for a pico second! but it was damn fast and the "G" forces were very very evident.

mines showroom stock "J"-class. stock mtr except exhaust and K&N. suspension done within rule specs to the nats ass. everything replaced. torsions, adj sways, turbo tie rods, mono balls, lowered, corner balanced, blah blah, nothing more we can do and stay w/in rules. brakes to the rule book. no chip. weighed in at 2820# full tank of sunoco race fuel. probably the only car out there NOT cheating!

about 88 degrees out that day at pca speedfest, so track was warm and we hammered the hell out of it. PIR and Firebird here in phx. you will never hit 5th gear and the banking at PIR is NOTHING LIKE calif. mtr. speedway!

shoving the car up the banking anywhere will heat passenger side tires up real quick! keep that in mind if going to superspeedway. anywhere else i would just start at 27 psi all around and check each run.

these tires made all the difference in the world as far as how my car handled! PURE UNADULTERATED BREAK THE FUN BARRIER FUN!

by the way my pca instructor was jim patrick. patrick motorsports. he built the car and proceeded to SCARE THE LIVING HELL OUTTA MYSELF! and even he was impressed how well the entire package worked. my car was PEGGED IN 5th GEAR.

kinda like seeing GOD IN TECHNICOLOR!

on canyon twisties...........i eat brand new vettes for lunch!

spendy tires? yes. but can you really put a price tag ON FUN??????
