Autocross Class for my 911SC, need clarification
After pouring thru the SCCA Solo Rules, I thought at first I would be in the Street touring...then I read Appendix A which says all 911's from 65-89 fall into the "Street Prepared Class B"
AND after reading thru Street Prepared Rules it seems you can do just about anything you want to your car. Any wheel and tire, any shocks, any torsion bars, any sways, any exhaust, any brakes. You just have to keep the engine stock...it seems. am I interpreting this right?

Yes, but you may have one small problem... you cannot have Carrera tensioners on your engine. Since it was not a recall, just a tech bulitin, it is considered an engine modification and puts you into A-Mod... now that's a ton of FUN

If a 911 (of those years) is in any "Street Prepared" class, it's in BSP. I think (may be wrong) that a 911 can, if it has the right equipment on it, also be in one of the Street Touring classes.
If I read your note correctly, it sounded like you were thinking that all 911s had to be in BSP, and that's not the case. --DD

Solo 2 911 AutoX Classing
Kemo you can run in BSP with quite a few mods. The 2008 SCCA Solo II rules on page 61, section 13 (stock category) paragraph 4; "Alternate parts listed in a factory parts manual are not authorized unless their use is specifically referenced in the factory service manual or in a service bulletin for the specific model." This should cover use of the Carrera cam tensioners.
However unless you are willing to spend whatever it takes and have exceptional driving talent it will be very difficult to compete with the BMW E36 M3's. Trust me SM2 is notch above BSP in terms of car prep and competition. I plan to go back to BSP next season, all I have to do is re-install the rear seats. Good luck.

sorry for getting back so late on this and thanks for all the input. It looks like BSP is the category. I am ~trying~ to get my SC ready for PCA club racing, D class. I was looking for an Autocross category my D class car would fit in so I could do both. And, in all reality, the Autocross part would just be to increase the seat time.

I'm new to autosports generally, and even newer to autocross. I went to an SCCA Solo event on the spur of the moment last Sunday, never having checked the rules or the class for my car (I was OK on tech, having driven an SCCA PDX the day before). My car is a stock 1988 911 coupe.
They looked it up at registration and entered me as BSP. Midway through my group's run, the race director told me I should have been in B-Stock (BS). That's how they ultimately classed me. I did not have time to stop and remove the P ![]() ![]() Knowing so little about cars, I found the rules pretty daunting. However I did find a few handy sources which list the classes by car make - more clearly than the manufacturer listing in the SCCA Solo rule book (under BS you will find "911 SC" when I believe it should read 911, SC). Here's one chart. Hope this helps. Let us know what you find out.
