Looking for pictures of your window net setups

I'm one of the lucky ones that gets to race at Rennsport with PCA. I however need to install a window net (I usually use arm restraints).
I need some idea's on some window net setups. I have a halo seat so I cant restrict my exit with a huge metal tab that will impale me getting out. I also do not have the window frames in.
I'm leaning towards spring loaded rods.
I just need some ideas on which way is the best to go. Thanks!

For my car, I needed a bolt-on solution since I cannot weld. Eventually I will get something welded-in.

Here are some links to give you some ideas.

Schroth have a kit I have always admired:

Safety Equipment » Window and Cage Nets » Window Nets » HMS Motorsport

I have one of these I am not going to use if you want it. Requires some type of bolt-on brackets (see Allstar stuff at link below) or welding for the top of the net:

Window Net Mounting Kit - Racing Parts and Products

There are several things here that may give you some ideas:

Window Net Installation Kits : Window Net Brackets : Window Net Rods : Window Net Mounting Kits

The Allstar Performance brackets can be a nice bolt-on solution that can work with some cage configurations.

For the netting, I always use an inexpensive G-Force unit from Racer Wholesale.

You may want to review rules for POC, PCA and NASA so that your solution is compliant with all, just in case you want to run with them. I think NASA has the most guidance, so if I recall correctly, compliance with NASA means you are good with PCA and POC, et cetera.

For those going to RR IV that have not run with PCA ever or in a longtime, I strongly suggest you review the 2011 PCA rules. For example, they no longer allow Snell 2000 helmets. Most other sanctions do until early next year.

Thanks for that info.
I re-read the rules twice. I already ordered a seat back brace (My FIA seat is now 6 years old)
I have all the other stuff. I just hate having to install/weld a window net in my vintage car for one race. POC, HSR, SCCA vintage allow us to use arm restraints instead.

Either way, The Rennsport Reunion will be worth it

Which do you guys like better mesh or ribbon style nets?

I think the mesh gives better visibility but the ribbon is stronger.

I like the spring loaded rods better than the GM style 1970 female seat belt receptacle and male latch

Agreed. The spring loaded are a lot easier to release if you have to get out FAST.

I installed my window net. Pure bolt in, spring-loaded bar with some simple mods. I went with the spring-loaded bar because of the input. I also did not want to get stabbed by the buckle latch when trying to get out of the car.

Thanks for all the great ideas.

Check it out. Hopefully it will pass tech. I do not see why not since it's solid. But if you notice something, let me know. Thanks.

Chad, I am going to revive this thread as I'm dealing with a window net issue on my car right now.

I have a GM buckle net and the welded buckle piece makes getting in and out of the car a dicey situation at best. It's already roughed up my helmet something fierce and I'm not thrilled about buying a new lid and having the same thing happen again.

It looks from the picture like you were able to clamp the net loops to your cage, and they are also smaller and less intrusive.

What net setup did you go with?

I've seen the male tab of the GM buckle welded on to a sturdy hinge section which in turn is welded onto the rollbar ... i already chipped the top of my helmet due to the male part of the buckle setup being solidly welded to the bar ... going to try the hinge method before my next race !

Cheers

The second link in my post above takes you to a page on the Pitstop USA site. There you can find several different parts for bolt on applications.

Do any operate like these from Mantis Sport? I want a Heim Joint so I can swing the bar down and out of the way.

Sorry for the delay, I just saw this. It has been working great. I would not have changed anything. I made my own kit from different manufactures.

The spring loaded rod is this one (they offer 2 different sizes)
JOES Racing*Window Net Mounting Kit

The roll bar clamp kit brackets:
FYI- I got two of the adjustable clamps with the tubular attachment. They both rotate and lockdown with the spring rod is closed. I did not use the "fixed clamp", but you might be able to make it work. You can buy them separately.

I then bought a net that fit (I prefer Mess type). Then I used metal cable to attach the bottom rod/net to my rollbar X bar.

No welding and perfect.

Chad, how far off the roll bar do those Summit Racing shaft collars extend on the loop side? Looks like a slick and easy setup, but not sure I have the clearance between my cage and the chassis and/or window.

That's beautiful, Chad. Thanks. I hope I can use those in stead of welding.

Thanks, Chad. That's an elegant solution to an ugly problem.
