935 re-enforcement?
I'm planning on modifying my suspension to 935 type. I'm curious of the re-enforcements I should do to my chassis? I already have the rear shock tower bracing (bought from Elephant Racing). But I've also heard of people strengthening up around the 4 rear spring plate bolts, front 3 control arm bolts....
Can someone give me some more detail.... Thanks.

Would love to details also. My cars been upgraded to 935 control arms and the front is butchered by someone who wanted to extend a roll cage around the fuel cell. Ive been meaning to fix this and wondering about the same thing. ( My car is a prject and not on the track yet ). The rear in what I have is all custom fabbed and looks good, its the fron control arms Im most cusious about.

The main thing to understand is that you are changing the load path for the spring forces. Instead of torsion into the reinforced bits of the floor pan, the load is now going into the damper mounts which weren't really designed for it. They should thereforce be reinforced. The other mounts should be fine

Can you or anyone else post any pictures of the re-enforcements? Right now my car is stripped to bare metal. It's the perfect time to weld any re-enforcement, weather it needs it or not.
Thanks,

Butchered front that needs work, worst welds I have seen in my life when this was added.
![]() The rear of my car is pretty custom so I dont know if it will help. There are many threads of shock tower reinforcement that show pictures. I would suggest you look a bit for those as thats what most do at a minimum. I have came across those threads many times. ![]()

Not a bunch of pics in this thread Rear crossmember, tower damage pics (from coliovers) but some good discussion. Also a good indication of what can happen when you don't reinforce the rear shock tower.

So is this the bar that reinforces the front? Can you show me a picture of where you welded it to the floor pan?

Armando,
I don't have access to my car right now so I can't get that photo for you. I can say that the bar terminates in at the very front of the car beyond the front a-arm mounting point. This photo is somewhat helpful: ![]() The intent of the bar going to the front is to offer more crash protection and some stiffening. It is not to support the a-arm mount. Scott |

Scotts rear suspension structure is the hot setup. Provides a nice connection for the coilovers and ties into the chassis very well- connects to frame rails & tub sheetmetal with a LOT of contact area. Choice of rectangular tubing is smart, to make installation simpler & clean.
Do the rear legs on Scott's structure help to support the engine mounting points? I have seen the motor mount gussets cracked on some long time racecars. Seems like a good idea to get some additional strength back there. Scott needs to get his car back so we can see some more!

Here's a link to my build...
Project GT2 is underway! Notice I started it in 10/2006. Hoping to get some paint on it by the end of the year.
