Chad is building a Factory Five 818. His ST rep isn't retired but he's pretty focused on getting this new car assembled.

Factory Five is a kit-car manufacturer, best known for their Cobra replica using late-model Mustang donor pieces. The 818 is their latest offering, and it is a mid-engined convertible that uses Scooby WRX mechanicals, especially the drivetrain.

I'm still here. Matt is right, I'm busy building my 818R. (Strictly the "R" racing version- Beefier cage, lower, big rear wing, Diffuser, front splitter) the "S" is for the street (doors open- no full cage, higher. etc)

The ST is still sleeping in the garage. I plan on racing it in Sept- Oktoberfest. I'll post some videos.

The 818R is getting close- But I will be adding a bigger turbo, injectors, intercooler....... but now I'm wondering about adding a Dry Sump (Matt?)

~1800- 1900 pounds and 350-400 HP sound fun?

Some pictures of the progress:

Chad,
Peterson has a solution for the EJ. There's a member in NorCal who runs it in his swapped 914. A lot of the really high hp STis use it as well. With the Gs that car will be capable of I would consider it.

Btw, not to throw fuel on the fire but we did a very limited run of 5spd dog box kits recently. Not cheap, but will make you fasterer.

I know Matt- You are killing me.... I have 2 Legacy GT transmissions- If I start blowing through those, you will get an email.

Little OT- But I started the 818R two days ago! Kinda boring.... Not fire, leaks, or explosions. I love how the ECU started learning

It sounded like you were at an airport with a jet taxiing in the background. Then I realized it was just the turbo...

Shakedown test last Sat at BW. Its a fun car! I need to try and lower seat more, or I will be adding to the cage for more safety.

Its not too exciting. Just testing. The one session I was really pushing it, didn't record.....

I also ordered a lower seat cushion from Racetech- It will lower me another 30mm. I did not like how high I was sitting in relation to the rollbar in the pictures.

I ordered new injectors and am buying a bigger turbo. 360 RWHP should be fun. Right now it has a stock small turbo (TD04) (~230ish RWHP). It was running out of steam at the high RPM's. The car was also overboosting and cutting the throttle rarely in 4th gear. So I had to watch 4th gear full throttle. I still managed a ~2:00 with point by traffic at the testday at BW #13. Pretty good for a first test, but with the expected Gremlims.

I need to learn to trust the downforce (Star Wars???). I have never driven a car with it. Braking was not up to par also, I ordered my favorite race pads so that should fix that (Hopefully). I plan on testing here again once everything else is in.

I need to throw the 901 Trans back into the 911- I plan on doing some races with that still.

Chad,
Do you have an Accessport? Who is tuning the engine for you?
