better rotors than Zimmerman, (74 911)???
Are there any significant improvements in durability or cooling from other manufacturers??
I see that Stoptek has right and left hand slotted rotors, (but I suspect that the vanes are straight and that the R/L designation is just regarding the slot direction, is this correct??). Does anyone offer a curved vane replacement rotor. The anti corrosion treatments are a help. How significant are the claims of superior metallurgy & Cryo treatment? Thanks, chris |

What problems do you have, and what pads are you using for which application (race, TT DE)?

There has never been a good study about cyro. It's just too difficult to control all the factors and then reach a conclusion. All of the material on cyro is anecdotal.
There are huge differences between brake rotors - which are actually discs. (Do you have disc brakes or do you have rotor brakes?) Here's a lot of material I've written over the years about brake discs. Richard Newton |

I'm currently running Zimmerman rotors and Ferodo pads. Huge improvement over OEM.
Beyond that, you're getting into race territory, so I'd ask the hot shoes like Rothsport, etc. -C

The car is an "improved" stock CIS 74 911 that my dad kept up and passed on to me. I have added a Carrera cooler and thermostat, deleted the AC.
The car has 6 inch Fuchs with Direzzionales, bilsteins, new rubber bushings, SS brake lines, new MC, PMB calipers, new Zimmermans, which I will probably go ahead and install. new bearings, Carrera bars and slightly larger T bars. I heard that the EBC yellow stuff pads might be a good compromise street DE pad, since they are reported to have a good cold coefficient of friction. To keep the brakes from running at too high a temperature and wearing out more quickly, I am going to install blocking plates and air from the front to the center of the rotor. It appears that a curved vane disc is not available for the stock M calipers. Everyone seems to agree that a curved vane DISC offers superior air flow, so I am interested in this avenue, as well. Stoptech slotted Discs look interesting, they even have Cryo and claim superior metallurgy, as well, but without a few stout testamonials from experienced trackers, I think I will stay with the Zimmermans. I know I could likely get by with new fresh brakes, but I would like to upgrade the pieces I can, hopeing for better life, linear response and 0 fade. Happy to hear advice, I have rather humbly learned that my conclusions can frequently be improved upon. chris |

I can't look to the OE rotors like Zimmerman or ATE that I use as what's keeping me from being bathed in confetti while being kissed by a hottie on the podium... under a 16" wheel naturally....

Sebro slotted rotors are a good choice over the solid or drilled Zimmermans ... i use the
slotted Sebros available from Pelican on my 911 DE car with 996TT brakes and have a set of Chris Whaleys custom slotted rotors on my 944 SP2 race car ! Cheers Phil
