Cayenne 2013 rear brake lights issue

Hello. My dad's 2013 Cayenne is having a fit with the rear break lights. Mast of the times they are not working and there is a fault light, but sometimes they still work and no fault light is shown. Also, when the don't work, putting the key into ignition activates them for a split second. Another interesting thing is that they seem to not work on hit days, but when it's a little cooler they work for awhile. Perhaps some moisture is seeping through and messing with the cinnections. Any clues to what the issue might be. Any help is greatly appreciated.

i think the quick flash when key inserted might be car checking the bulbs - sounds to me like a bad connection somewhere - i'd check wiring to rear of car - do all other rear lights (reverse, tail, directional) work? - also check up near top of brake pedal - might be a switch there somewhere - not sure if that switch is there on these cars - new to them myself

Thank you for replying. Everything else works well. Checked the connection at the light and everything is fine there. The connection under the petal seems tough to get too, but I'll see what I can do. It seems like it has something to do with the heat though. Any chance that the computer is involved (before this, there was an all fault code that required an abs sensor change)
