Engine missing
I'm having a problem with my 2009 Cayenne GTS. I have some minor engine "missing" problems that just started happening, and I'd like to fix it before it gets worse. I have a Durametric device, and when I hooked it up, I got a lot of codes, but the ones that seemed pertinent were 1094 (air mass ahead of throttle valve, implausible, Value below lower limit value; 0174 System too lean bank 2 upper limit value exceeded, and 0171 System too lean bank 1 upper limit value exceeded. Any ideas on where to start before I go in and really screw things up?

More on this.
I forgot to mention, the Check Engine light just came on today, and when I hooked up the Durametric and cleared faults, the engine started running smoother and the light weet out. I drove about 5 miles and the light came back on.

Maybe an O2 sensor? How many mikes in the car? Do you have a custom intake and filters?

Standard GTS with 102,000 miles. I've also read about cleaning or replacing MAFs

I cleaned mine a while back after a check engine code came up. Sorry I cannot remember the code off the top of my head. But very easy to clean with the spray from the local auto parts store. I would try that first cheap and easy if it works.

+1 on cleaning it first with a proper spray cleaner from local parts store, although an electronics cleaner spray may be similar.
Just read the short list of things to do or check before replacing the MAFS at rock auto. Mentioned if air filter had been previously blow-cleaned with too high an air-pressure, filter could become significantly much more porous and allow contaminants thru onto the MAFS, crippling its sensitivity and lighting a codefault. It also mentioned oxygen sensors, loose or cracked or split ducts between air filter and MAFS or throttle-body as culprits instead of MAFS in regard to lean mixture and codefault lighting. |
