Brakes seem weak

My 2005 Cayenne S just does not seem to grab when I hit the brakes. Especially the initial braking action. I'm used to my other Porches having a good first bite when I hit the pedal. It takes a lot of pressure to engage ABS. Is there a pad with good first bite. Thanks

One of my colleagues also has a Cayenne S and mentioned the same thing about not getting that first good bite - seems like it's a 'Cayenne thing'. As far as brake pads, Hawk HPS pads are excellent if you're looking for something a bit more aggressive - link below.

It is a very heavy vehicle. That said, the larger brakes on Turbo models stops them like a Porsche. It seems like they were optional on non-turbo cars...so one might find a set in a junkyard if their car is no equipped. I tried/test drove both models and the non-turbo versions seem more like driving a big station wagon as compared to the turbo (so I personally bought the turbo version more for handling/braking).

I've used HPS pad and I like them, however the weight of the car is certainly a factor. Pads/rotors lasted a long time for me, surprisingly even with a lot of towing. I'm changing them this weekend again, last change was about 5 years ago.
