Ls7 ?

after deciding to do a LS conversion on my 78 911, initial plan is an LS3 new crate motor.

but after reading some info on LS7, been searching this forum. not finding a lot.

anyone do an LS7 dry sump? if so are you happy with the choice? if not why?

any links to threads?

sold the disassembled 3.3 turbo motor so no going back now....

a long way to go but want to understand what is needed to do an LS7. I still have my 911 oil tank that was cleaned and redone in cerakote if I do this. just trying to understand my options and what is needed....

thanks in advance.

just started a thread on this forum and will update with engine conversion related work. may keep another thread with the non engine conversion stuff...

https://forums.pelicanparts.com/911-930-turbo-super-charging-forum/847975-930-clone-restore-if-you-had-do-all-over.html

but in the short term focusing on getting the rebuilt engine back in my 951...

can you give me the link? tried to search and it says these words are too common and match too many threads.... and I also tried using your username...

so were you happy with the LS7? would you suggest I consider this or just stay with an LS3?

thanks.

PS. my friend stopped by in his early 60s austin healy 3000. when I told him I am doing an LS swap on the 911 he just slapped his forehead in consternation....

I have taken delivery of a crate LS7 with Renegade kit in the UPS system with a promised delivery of tomorrow. All going a track rat Cayman that I picked up with a broken engine.
Read the specs on the LS3 and things like forged crank vs iron and proper rods vs powder metal rods made the decision for me.

I put a 487 HP LS3 in as 2 door 1999 Tahoe for the street but not for the track.

I read those specs too. although the LS3 does seem to be a great motor, the LS7 has the good stuff.....

hope you start a thread so I can now have a couple to read for ideas.
