Yes, it doesn't look it from the angles in the pic but there is loads of room.

The project was put on hold while we sold and bought a home. I've also had 2 other Notchbacks I've been wrenching on in that time. It is however back in the garage, motor and trans mounted, and I have been working on a shift rod, and new airflow into the engine bay. Here's a couple pics, looks rough as hell with all the different colors of paint and raw steel but when I pull the motor out, I'll be able to finish the welding and put some primer in there.

Pretty sure rear trailing arms (and brakes) off 944 will fit on there, cast aluminum rather than stamped steel, as I recall. Try go to superbeetles.com and look around, should be able to get some info on that site too.
