67 911 RS conversion - is LT4 too much?
I bought this clear title project car out of FL because I have a variety of drivetrain possibilities to package it with. Porsche purists tell me the 78 911 3.0 engine with 3.0 engine is the way to go, even though I doon't have all the FI parts.
That 78 has a 915 trans - the one recommended by Renegade. I could team that trans up with a 62 Corvette 327 340HP engine, a 2003 Corvette LS1, or a 2016 Corvette LT4 6.2 supercharged (650 hp engine) I have. Using a Procharger supercharger, it would be 750hp. Not sure what to do. a long time friend / local Porsche shop owner (who has done 2 Renegade LS conversions) says the LT4 would be too dangerous. What do you think? I plan to ditch the amps, maybe the digital dash. Maybe sell as-is on EBay? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I saw that car months ago at the florida Ocoee auto auction. I am currently building 82 SC with a LS and a 996 LS trans. Little bit of a challenge but hopefully I will have it working all together soon. Good Luck!

I'd love to hear how yours is going and what kind of challenges you've had. I may be giving it a go.

I installed a mast motorsports ls7....705 chp in my 930...sold a couple of years ago! way more hp than you would need for the street. my car weighed 2200 pounds with a 930 four speed transaxle. my 71 911 has a dart aluminum block and heads and is 434 cubic inches with mass flo efi, etc. it also has a 930 four speed.the car weighs 2200 pounds. that is plenty of hp for my driving habits and quite simple setup.

A supercharged v8 is just to much for this car. unless you have a weld in 6 point and braces everywhere you will twist it and pull the mounts from the corneres. 400-500 is already huge in these cars but torque will kill. also unless you go an albins box you will break all porsche gearboxes. stick to the ls1 its a great mid range area of power and there is lot of info out there to help.
