"selling for a friend who is not good with computers"

Whenever I see something along those lines all I can do is think flipper who has an open title and is jumping taxes.

People come to me a lot with the excuse that they aren't good with computers. Sometimes that's true. Usually what they mean is that they don't want random people contacting them and wasting their time. Or they've tried to sell a car themselves and haven't had luck where they've listed it. It's good for me because I manage the process.

My 'not good with computers' friends or clients keep their cars until sold and I take a broker's fee. None of the cars on my site is being "flipped."

Porsches for Sale & etc.

I will grant that many times you see that phrase, it ain't kosher. But you might be surprised how many people believe car shoppers who use computers are a different species.

I've seen people say "no rust" when it appears they are not counting sheet metal completely missing from the car - sure, "no rust" maybe, but "missing formerly-rusted metal" is more accurate.

Typically I'll ask straight up if the seller has a clean clear title in their name. If not, then the excuses start coming. I have bought cars with open titles. I once sold a car I had for 6 months with an open title so I am not perfect. I knew the buyer I sold the car to personally, so I was up front. Open titles are just something to avoid in my opinion.

"Investment grade" or "These cars are only going up in value"

Patina = smells like a mold filled garbage can when you set in it...

I could quote a few from a well known seller with a bad rep...

"These cars are getting impossible to find and most of them are being exported back to Germany."

"Extremely Rare"

"recently aquired out of a private collection"

My personal favorite is "won't last"
Hell of a way to market a car!
