Hi all, I am the proud new owner yesterday of a 1987 911 targa in near perfect condition with 34,000 miles. It’s flawless. But no sport seats. I have found some online that are original OEM with full leather and heat in excellent condition, but they are asking over $8,000. I know a lot about these and have read all the forums posts, but most are “pre crazy times” before prices of these cars went to the moon. Have sport seat prices also gone to the moon? The forum posts from 2015 on these prices may as well be from the early 1900’s by today’s standards so wondering what you all think a fair price is for these.

These come up for sale on BaT occasionally. I would check past sales history.

1987 sport seats are not rare, and shouldn't be priced much more than $2500 for the pair. Add more for condition, rare colors, heat, etc. Asking $8k is bonkers.

You are perfectly entitled to ask 8000
Let us know how long they sit on the lot waiting for an actual sale |

Even a really nice pair of '87 sport seats shouldn't set you back more than $4k.
It's mostly because the delta between comfort and sport is much smaller than it was with the previous generations of 911s. There's a big difference between SC comfort and sport. Not so much with the Carreras.

He is looking to buy a set - he doesn't have a set to sell.

Thanks all. I offered $5k as they are full leather and heated and original. He still won’t accept. We are at an impasse.

'74-'80 sport seats are the best of all of them, imho. Having owned a 67-S with sports seats and a 73-S with that generation, comparing them to my 80SC sport seats is night and day. You are hugged bottom and sides. After '80, the lower bolsters retreated in size and hug-ability. . Ingress/Egress took front and center. The '74-'80 seats do bring a premium. '76-'79 US Turbo owners seek them out. A corduroy pair seen here.
