Where to sell a '72 911 E
I am thinking of selling my 1972 911 E. It is a matching #'s car and 95% original. The paint was redone 4 years ago to address some scratches etc. It was sprayed in the original colour. That is the only thing that is not original, otherwise, MFI is intact and working, interior correct etc. according to Porsche birth cert.
Where is the best place to list this car? I was going to put it here but anywhere else? Cheers, James

also consider:
porschatrader.com auto trader classics eBay I find that the asking price will typically dictate where to list the car. Just make sure there is enough information, and photos, to entice prospective buyers. So far sounds like a nice car. jb |

Advertise it in as many venues as you can afford. Some are even free (Cardomain for one, I think). More advertising = more eyes.

That's quite a sought after 911....
I've read about several people on this forum who are looking for a 2.4 "E" and they seem like they have realistic prices in mind. I know one guy mentioned that his "wet dream" was a $28.5 (latest Excellence value guide for a 2.4 "E' in good condition) 911 "E". Many reviews I've read rate the 2.4 "E" as a fantastic driver - better in most aspects than an "S."
From what I've read, it seems as though the really good, original low mileage cars (especially in an unusual color) bring very good money - even in this tough economy. It sounds like a nice car, what color is it? |

It looks like the pre '74 911's are undervalued by the Excellence guide, and that the post '74 - '89 911's are overvalued a bit (??).
I guess it's just simply supply & demand. 2.4's (and 2.2's for that matter) were made for a few years (plus the fact that they like to rust), and are regarded as nice, lightweight "pure" 911's that command a premium. In the grand scheme of "things 911," they made quite a few SC & Carreras, plus they have the galvanized chassis and (arguably) more robust mechanics that tend to last a longer time between overhauls. I think that the SC & Carreras will eventually appreciate because they're such nice drivers (like when pre-'74's become too expensive to see road use). Who knows, if the world economies don't stabilize in future years, they all might depreciate to "obtainable" status again..... I've got a "Swiss Army knife" type Beretta myself - an Xtrema 2. It has been amazingly reliable/robust. I have a few "high value" Remington 3200's for my O/U's, I guess they're the "911SC's" of the O/U world, built around the same time as well! |

Heck that xtrema2 cost more than my 686 did when I got it new!
Wouldn't mind a good ol fashioned 390 sporting myself. And a 70 or 71 E too ![]()

The car is silver and several have pm'ed me already on it. It was recently repainted from bare metal in it's original colour to address some scratches and a few minor rust spots on the bottom of the doors.

Let me understand this correctly. You've been a registered user on Pelican since 2002 and you have 1,257 posts, but you don't know where to list your 72E for sale>! What kind of BS is that. If you are looking for feelers, there are more subtle ways of doing it. It seems however that if you really wanted to sell the car you would have simply put it up for sale. Quite playing striptease with the board and list the car then. Posting this way on the Pelican board like a beautiful a woman with big breasts walking into a military base full of horny GI's and asking if they know where you can find a date to the local dance. I like a Beretta O/U nice gun for the money , However for a plastic shotgun my Benelli has served me well , Now that gets us to the 250 GP Benelli Racing motorcycle from the 60's which should make fore another departure on the value of an E which I also have and would tell is only worth what some will pay inverse to the desperation of the seller divided by the condition rating-

Well you can keep those overpriced logs they call K-guns. Had a Nova that i liked quite a bit. Very utilitarian gun. Just not pretty to look at.
