1977 911 sc?

Can anyone tell me for sure if the factory could have produced a late build 1977 911 with factory SC flares? I just spoke with a guy who claims his car is exactly that. He said he had a "expert" look at the car and tell him it was a rare build. I am very interested in purchasing this car if it is what he says it is. I have no good information yet, poor pictures, no vin. I will pursue later tonight but just curious now.

IIRC the factory "programs" built cars from August-July for the model year in question; e.g. MY 1978 cars began production in August 1977.

Get the VIN and post it and that will shed further light. Are you sure it's not a 1978 911SC?

Cheers

d.

Sounds shady.. A VIN would help decode some of the mystery. Without Factory documentation, its all speculation and no, its not too likely.

Note that the '77 Carrera 3.0 (a european spec car) would have had "SC" rear flares.

With Porsche, anything is possible via custom ordering. Get the VIN.

Well ok, now what? VIN=911720190x, I left the last # off puposely. Looks like a typical 911S vin to me.
Do those look like SC flares. I see the SC badge on the rear deck lid so I must assume it has been "upgraded".
Still it is a nice looking car that I will pursue further.
Thanks for your input.

VIN comes out as a 77 911s. 3388 were made with VINs from 7200001 - 7203388. The car in question was produced in the middle of US 911s production.
