A few years ago VB beer ran an ad campaign and competition with this car (minus decals) as the prize. What an absolute stunner.
I believe it was designed and built by Raw SpeedShop in Sydney.
Personally I'd lose the big stereo unit but how I'd love this in my garage.

Can't import anything made after 1989 unless its on a special list and Posrche make sure their cars aren't on the list, or we'd all be driving 993's!

And here come the close minded Porsche Purists with absolutely no imagination or creativity. OMG, it's not factory stock and everyone knows that Porsche made their cars absolutely perfect beyond question from the factory to the extent that owners should never, never mess with that absolutely perfect, beyond question design blessed by the Holy Father himself!!! This attitude gets really old, especially for someone like me who came to Porsches from Harleys and modified Japanese cars. Harleys are ALWAYS customized from factory stock to personalize them, I guess God only blesses German cars with perfection, not American motorcycles. Any way, believe it or not, some people in this world don't think Porsches are perfect. Some people actually want to make them better. Some want to make them their OWN, personalized, one of a kind...

BHP231, thanks for posting the pictures. I have only ever seen one picture of this car from the original promotion and it was only of the interior and the bomber seats. I always wondered if the exterior matched the originality of the interior and I'm glad to see that it does. It's refreshing (to me anyway) to see people do something different like this with a Porsche, but then most of my cars are highly modified (see below). Sacrilege, I know.

I think it is very cool looking...wonder what it weighs, and if the engine is stock. It looks like it.

The grungy fan & shroud stick out from the clean details of the the rest of the build.

Love the "King Ranch" leather. Doesn't look comfortable to sit in for long, though.

For 60k you'd think they would have put the steering wheel on the correct side....

Well, I have hated the rat rod fad from the beginning. Not just with Porsches - with ALL cars. Making a car personal is great. I once saw a Ford Escort with all manner of action figures glued all over the bodywork. Yup, it sure makes a statement. FWIW, there are plenty of folks who think that appearance mods are mostly a waste of money, and that money should be spent in making the car perform better. I think it's a shame that poor Porsches get butchered, but they aren't my cars, and it's not my money. So my opinion is is worth exactly what you paid for it.

There isn't a ton of difference between this custom SC and the Stan Townes Speedster, which seems to be universally praised.

But of course, some think Porsches are forged by Ubermenschen in Valhalla, so cannot be changed without degrading them.

This way you avoid being gaudy and have the car performing exactly how you like it, I'd say.

I think there is an almost infinite gulf between glued on action figures and can't even substitute an aftermarket nut. And room for a lot of folks in there.

I've never once met someone so snobby that they need everything to be factory-type or factory original, EXCEPT for a guy who own a '65 Pontiac Tempest. But that car was a museum piece, and he never drove it anywhere, ever. It got trailered to car shows. Most Porsche owners of my acquaintance go for performance mods over appearance mods. Like upgrading the AC. Or the headlamps. Up-sizing wheel width. Chips. If I were to make a guess, I would say that the 911 Tech forum is way over to the performance rather than the appearance side of things.

Classy? I think the intention of that car is to be as far from classy as possible. I don't know that I would define it as a rat rod, but that is kind of the intent. I think you would fail badly in a demolition derby with the Reich Rodz Rat - notice there is no rear bumper! One hit in the rear and the cooling fan would be crunched and you'd be done, but I get your point.
