72 T engine value?
I have a 72 T engine complete with original MFI. This engine is in very good condition and ran well when pulled from the car.
Any ideas on value? I was thinking around the 10K mark but I really dont know... Thanks in advance for input.... Rob |

I would think 8-10k would be about right. Of course though the real value would be in re uniting the motor with the car it came from. Why not post the engine number here and early S and if someone is looking or someone who has a close chassis number might be a buyer.

Its a 2.4 T, long hood values aside. Not a 10k motor, $5k is about right if its plug and play.
Just say'n

So S engines are selling for $40-50K but a T is only worth $5k. I'm not buying it. '72T cars in nice condition are becoming six figure cars. Their hearts have to have come up in value too. I'm not 100% sure of value but think $10k is closer than $5k.

My 73S has never had the correct engine, and nothing smaller than a 2.7 and I've never cared. However I can understand the point since everyone is hung on "value." I still say good luck with that.

It's gotten goofy. I'm seeing 2.7l core engines with no CIS attached offered at $2K. I'm so glad I got my 73 1/2 2.4T core when I did. I saw one complete last week with CIS for $6000. I paid $400 for my core that's been sitting in a corner for 4 years waiting for me finally to start tearing it down last month.
But based on asking on that 73 1/2 (which sold in less than a week) I have to think the earlier MFI one is worth even more.

The real value of that engine is reuniting with car it came from. They made 10T engine for 1S engine .They are many engines for sale on market.

Here is a running 72/73 2.4 T engine posted in the classified for $6000 w/MFI on Feb 5.
Sold in one day. 1972/3 2.4L 911T MFI Engine There may be a bunch of T motors for sale somewhere, but I only found that one comparable, complete 2.4 MFI motor on the classifieds in the past 18 months. There was a largely complete 2.4 with CIS that apparently sold for 3K, but with the exhaust, engine tin, and some other parts removed. FS: 1973 911T 2.4 CIS Engine techweenie was interested at the time -- maybe he has more info on the deal. Sounds like $6-8k is not unreasonable. Maybe more depending on condition.

As an owner of a '72 T, and having gone the rounds with the MFI setup, I would also say in the 6K to 8K range. Complete cores with MFI around $4K. Core complete MFI setups go in the range of around 2,000 to 2,500.

PM me with the engine number and I can give you a range of serial numbers of the car that the engine most likely would have come in. Maybe somebody on here has a more comprehensive listing of chassis serial numbers with engine serials. My car has it's original engine and I know another guy with a car made 88 after mine with it's original engine.

You can contact Dave Pateman. He keeps an engine and chassis database.
