Fender question
I bought a 91 targa shell . Will the fender lips match if I put them on a 68 widebody T that I want to turn back to stock ?
Thanks, you guys are a great resource . I have cars - I need knowledge. Thanks again . Brian vb |

A 964 shell to use the fenders on a '68? No, it won't match. Wait for some stock fenders if they ever come up. Even impact car front fenders vary quite a bit through the years though they all are supposed to 'fit'.

Find used /new fenders for a SWB 911 and not re-bastardize the car, otherwise you are only making a sideways change and not an improvement to show for your work and money outlay. |

Ok Thanks. I have a 68t dressed up to look like an 89 turbo = yuk ! I want it to go back.
Re: My 68s widebody, I signed a contract promising the guy that sold it to me to never cut the fenders off. To bad for me. |

Surprisingly, I also need front fenders for my 79 930 which is slanted, and shouldn't be.

Neat suggestion. My 79 930 is wicked and the 68t is a POS. I'll check but I'm sure the 68t will have copious bondo. I need my 79 930 to be perfect so I'll try to find perfect fenders. Does the 79 factory front fenders have welding ? Or are the built "flared" ?
As usual, thank you for all helpful comments. |

Very important to note: if you are doing a high quality 'rightdate' on your 68, be aware the 68 front fenders are one year only configuration. If you look at the wheel well openings from underneath, the inner edge of the lip is trimmed away toward the center on a 68 fender. The flange is of consistent thickness on 65-67 fenders that otherwise appear the same. Also, if you haven't shopped for early fenders before, all SWB fenders have "boxed" areas for the turn signal assembly and all LWB fenders have open areas.

They were welded on flares for sure in 1979 from the factory.
