The worst fake Porsche documentation in history. How the hell does the seller not realize it’s bogus?!? Not only is it not on any sort of Porsche letterhead, but it’s signed by a Dr. Tng Porschr. Who the f..k is that? It’s unreal how stupid and gullible some people are, but I do think it’s a cool car nonetheless, whoever did the bodywork. That doc will definitely sidetrack the auction on an otherwise cool RUF 930.

You do not have to do much to be able to tell this is not a factory slantnose.

Special Wishes did offer a fiberglass boxed rocker as an option to the WLS cars that looks just like that one, so they did offer that rocker at some point. The front valance also looks like a Special Wishes part, but the brake vent fins numbering at only 2 and the fender slots numbering at 9, is nothing that Porsche ever did that I’m aware of.

Gainesville is spelled wrong as well, I don’t think there’s anywhere in the US where it’s spelled without an ‘e’.
I like the 13th of 42 built that year too, as if Porsche would even know that info for a Special Wishes build, and even if they did, they’d never put in writing like this. |

I’m guessing not legal in most states due to headlight height,or lack of.

The front valence and Ruf 5-speed are legit. Maybe the rockers. The rest (fenders, scoops, decklid, etc.) probably not.

Nathanbs, saw you put a good number bid out on this thing. Peanut gallery seemed to lean towards a fake, and that documentation and odd mishmash of parts looked crazy suspect. I don’t know anything about special wishes cars and even less about slant nose 930’s; what made you think it was legit?
Serious question, I’d like to hear your thoughts after that whipsaw auction. |

I though the entire auction was very entertaining.
There were some characters who were 100% sure every thing was legit and they were not afraid to say it over and over, as if they were some sort of authority. Then there were new comments from people who had never made a peep on BAT just popping up to say they know the car and its totally legit. It was like watching a train wreck, I just couldn't turn away. There is quite a collection of people who pop up on every air cooled auction, they try to assert themselves as an expert, when in reality it appears as if they know almost nothing about these cars.

I've always wondered why date stamps are not photographed but perhaps when they don't line up with the story, sellers are shy to post. Doesn't a RUF transmission have a date code? Seats, RUF speedo, wheels, etc., all have date stamps/codes but they don't post...why? It takes less than 5 minutes to pull out a speedo and photograph the date stamp but this is almost never done on Porsche BAT auctions. |
