It's a 34 year old car.... I'm missing the part where you're saying it's in a "transitional phase". Because every single tiny thing on the car doesn't work...better watch out for mine then :) I removed and boxed 5x the items you described on your car.
AND, people regularly want to buy it. The car is old, unless its a concours car (which are for weenies not enthusiasts) every single thing isn't going to be perfect. Perfect has no soul... Find the least expensive storage (free through a friend is ideal) you can and it will be like a savings account that actually grows. 3 years ago I almost sold mine bc motor went bad...VERY glad I didn't |

Anyone interested in the car will be reading this linked thread. In it, you say "By all accounts the car will go for 50s." So, why would anyone offer you above that range ? |

Oh, sorry, I was not trying to compare it to Trem's car.
It was more a side topic that arose during this thread. |

One month later, how do you feel about the sale? |
It was low 50s to the first person who drove it, and I think it's with the right owner. I might even see it at various events in the Inland Empire!
The pain of watching it go was tempered by the '89 widebody backdate coupe that displaced it...but my enthusiasm for this car was diminished when I found it needs more than expected, and I'll have to repeat work I did to the car I sold. Ultimately, I'm slightly ahead of where I was in terms of dream-car project end-goals, but at a significantly higher cost than expected as part of the churn. So it goes. |
Good luck with your new ride, hope you get it to where you want it. Really liked the look of your previous car. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/grin.gif

What made you buy the new car?
Were you looking for a project or was it supposed to be turn key? |
It's a dailyish-drivable project, which is what I had and what I was more or less looking for.
I effectively traded a 3.6 and 930 brakes/arms for a G50 and a smoggable motor. If I stayed with a stock look on the '84, red was a great color. If I decided to go backdate, I would not want red at all. It seemed dumb to backdate that car and try to change the color when it looked so good. When this other car showed up it seemed to answer a question. |
