Almost seems too good to be true? That price seems awfully low.

At $37k that seems far from "almost too good to be true."

How Craigslist hasn’t been shut down yet by the Feds for all of the fraud on its website is beyond me. I would question even the most legitimate looking ad on CL at this point.

Why should the Feds shut it down? It's a "forum" where people buy and sell things, no one is forcing anyone to buy or sell anything. Sure, there are bad apples, but aren't bad apples everywhere? There are some scammers right here on PP, should the Feds shut us down too?

It’s overrun with fraud, there is no comparison whatsoever with Pelican, or any other site that I’m aware of for that matter. That’s why it should be shut down.

It always amazes me up when people "demand" something should be shut down by the "government" just because they don’t agree with it. That just goes to show they have no idea how free market and democracy works. The government does not have the authority to "shut" something or someone down as long as they are not breaking any laws. Or just because a group of people demand it. Craigslist is not doing anything wrong. It's the scums who are not honest who are breaking the law. It has nothing do do with them. The way free market works: if you don’t like the way someone is running their business or you don’t like what they offer, simply don’t shop or use their services. To be clear, I agree Craigslist is the worst. That's why I would never buy or sell anything there.

FRAUD. Fraud is against the law. If the service enables fraud, then the service is complicit. Sort of like a website that advertises hookers is not engaging in prostitution, but is complicit nonetheless. |

For the record I agree with both of you guys above this comment. Craigslist is trash and allows criminals to operate freely. The point I was trying to make is goverment can not interfere with free market. If enough people stopped using craigslist the problem would take care of itself. Free market.

I have used CL successfully to buy hundreds of items from guitars to cameras to cars with zero problem. Just common sense. If some guy sells a $1,000 (market value) iPhone for $500 and tells you to show up at a gas station at 11pm with cash and you believe him? Then perhaps you should get killed so natural selection can work its wonders... Put an end to that gene pool.

Fraud only works against the stupid. People should smarten up instead of relying on the "Feds" to nanny them. |

I personally believe that 99% of CL "victims" are just greedy and dumb. Too eager to "steal" that item and forgetting common sense.

It’s appalling you call the victims the greedy ones, and claim that they are the ones stealing. Truly f...ing unreal how you take your victim blaming to such an extreme like this. You’re real work of art, you should be proud of yourself.

No need to get worked up or angry. Think about it, if everyone used common sense to detect fraud, there would be no scammers.

Should Craigslist become an expert in EVERY field there are ads? Gee, they provide a platform, they cannot be responsible for the content unless it is illegal.

It is werid that in most cases government is the worst thing in the world but when people are too stupid t do their homework then they cry for help from government.
