I just got a 1997 900SE turbo for my daily driver. I got it because i liked my partners 900SE Turbo so much. His is a 5 speed, mine an automatic.

Not surprisingly, i crushed him in a drag race. (Launching at full boost gives the auto a big advantage on launch). Hehehe

His has 160,000 miles- mine has 120,000 miles.

Just joined the club. I looked at a backrow beauty '96 900 SE last weekend - ended up not buying it as I really don't need another car. My wife surprised me by showing up with it a few days ago. Needs a few small things but is a lot of fun to drive. The A/C beats the hell out of my 911SC. It will be my daily driver.

The car seems amazingly well built and I really like the turbo. Today I will learn how much a second key and key fob goes for from Saab as I only got one set. Hoping it won't be too bad.

:l

I have a 2002 9-3 SE with the H.O.T. motor and the 5speed.

it changed my mind about fam-sedans and makes me want to make the 930 into an insane track eater :l

Bought my daughter a 1995 900s for school..nice car with some weird electrics..may be an ignition switch.

Anyone got an electrical diagram???

For some reason I've messed this thread until now. I've got a much modded '97 9000 CS 5-speed. If I had to drive one car every day for the rest of my life, this would be it.

I have a '96 900S convertible.

It's funny because that means the 2 cars I have are a 900S and a 928S.

Now if you just pick up a 914 you will have a nice numerical trio!

3 winter beaters with heaters on the ranch.

86 900 SPG slightly rusty with 200,000 miles runs great but cosmetically suffers from headlining and some rust. Great car. Bought it about 15 years ago drove it the first winter, then I've been gone for 12 years and she has sat neglected in my field, but she always starts and runs. Scrapers stole the wheels with new snows and they also cut the cat off. Replaced the wheels and cat.

94 9000 CSE automatic with a dent in the right front fender and 260,000 miles bought for $500.00 and put in a new left front caliper and have driven 7,000 miles in the past 3 months. Hasn't missed a beat. Driving is a bit bland but still retains a bit of charm. Wish it had a turbo and a manual tranny. Winter tires are great. Heater not as good as the SPG.

99 95 v6 auto with blown head gasket? just purchased for $600.00 and then $150.00 for diesel to pick it up. Then I towed through a snowstorm to get her home. Research indicates its so GM. Engine, trans, platform. Should be ready for next winter but while this GM content will reduce parts cost, I'm a little concerned that the Swedish charm may be lost.

Probably should sell the lot and get a better turbo with a manual. Hmmm...any feasibility to putting a manual in the 95?

Just need a winter tractor.

From the "off topic" forum:

I still maintain that my '96 900SE turbo was the best combination of performance, utility and economy of any car. I really miss it.

I just picked up a 2000 93 Viggen with 80,000 miles. Very smooth and F A S T ! A great 4 door hatch ... Great combo of sport and utility.

Brand new for 28k great deal in toronto. Great car lots of power. Room for 4 adults and all their golf clubs!

Just upgraded my winter beater. Went from a 96 900S convertible to a 98 900S hatchback. I wasn't particularly looking to go with another Saab, but this one is in excellent shape and has TURBO! Carfax certified one owner with only 49K miles on it. It looks and drives like a new car!

wema780 07-14-2023 02:01 AM

The turbo went because of the well know sludge issue, and the conrod was probably due to flood damage.

I owned 3 wagons. Last one was a 2010 AWD V6 aero. Loved them all.
Wife still has a 2006 convertible with 16k miles.
