Anybody else here actually have a Saab?

Just curious.

I don't have one now, but I owned a 1985 900T that was the best car value I ever had. Go 130 mph and carry a sofa whlie getting 30 mpg. Donated it to very worthy cause. Miss it all the time.

I have an '03 93SS Vector and recently sold my '96 900 2D coupe. Love Saab's.

I just sold my 1977 911 and bought a 1995 900SE turbo convertible. Was looking for something fun to drive as a transition until I found another car.

It seems like a great car, but I was spoiled by the 911. I guess it will take some time getting used to.

I have a pristine '94 900SET all-black coupe that's a once-in-a-while car that I'm trying to keep nice. It's my 3rd. Saab. I've had it for 6 years and I'm gonna keep it around for as long as I can. I love it just as much as my 911, albeit for different reasons. The Saab is basically an eat-up-the-freeway cruiser that that would be smooth and happy at 100 mph all day long. I love all its quirky idiosyncrasies.

95 900S Grocery Gitter. Looking at getting another but with the 2.0 turbo. Good gas miliage and safe.

My Dad and brother both own a 9000 turbo. As the sole recipient of the mechanic gene in the family I tend to do a lot on them. Not as bad as porsches, but PITA's in thier own way,

Bearclaw 04-20-2008 01:13 PM

The 9000's were the result of a collaboration between Saab, Lancia and Fiat - and Saab came out on the losing end on that deal. But they can be okay if you get a good one. The classic 900's had their share of challenges, to be sure, but the 9000 was a different animal.

Years ago had a type 96 2 cycle......35 years ago. It was great fun!!

Now have a 9-5 wagon that my wife drives; 162K miles and still runs great!! However, the plastic parts leave a lot to be desired.

I have a '96 9000CSE and a '00 9-5SE. The 9000 will soon be RIP, due to a blown headgasket and a variety of minor items. Probably the best, most comfortable car I was ever in.

The 9-5, I have owned for over a year and has had a blown turbo replaced, a recon head, gaskets etc, con rod and piston and check valve. The turbo went because of the well know sludge issue, and the conrod was probably due to flood damage. Pity about the problems but it is an ideal daily driver and goes well for a 2.0 lpt.

Guilty also, 88 900 turbo vert, 98 9K CSE (the wolf in sheeps clothing) and just scraped my daughters 95 9K CDE. I had a 99 9-5 that my wife drove but it was one issue after another so it was traded in. The dealer who took it in trade gave me $2000 and the 98 9K CSE which is an absolute screamer as its really a AERO without the interior or spoilers. A turbo SAAB is always fun to drive.

I have a fully loaded dark green 5-door 95 900 SE V6 Automatic - which goes by the nickname "waSAABi". It now has about 130k miles on the odo.

It's my daily driver - not the coolest, but a very comfortable, reliable and practical mode of transportation.

But since Saab no longer makes 5-door cars, I'm not sure I'll get another one - except maybe one of the last 9-3 with the same body style as mine. Otherwise I'm thinking VW Rabbit or maybe GTI at this point. Pre-owned, of course... The biggest weakness of the VWs in my book is that they are not available with automatic climate control. waSAABi has spoiled me with this feature.

My daily driver is a 1996 900SE turbo (3dr, 5 spd, dark green) with some minor mods.

140K and still going strong.

Back in '02, there was a lot of rumor that this was going to be the "new" Saab but GM abandoned the idea for lack of marketing imagination. Not to mention they don't know Saab customers..

I have a 2007 9-3 Aero -- love the car, but skeptical about how it will hold up over time. I've got one more year on the lease - still not sure if I want to buy it, trade it for a new model, or just give it back and find something else.

Any thoughts on maint issues once the warranty runs out??

91 Saab 900 Daily Driver. 320,000 miles and still going strong, if the rust doesn't kill it first. Can anyone say right front lower control arm mount?
