Boxster Transaxle 914/6 ??

Done a bit of searching but unable to find anything current on mating a Boxster transaxle to a Porsche 911 engine in a 914 chassis. I'm sure this has been done as it seems a natural. Any links or info is appreciated, thanks!

Search Clay Perrine on 914world. He’s done one.

Yup, Clay put a 986 6 speed into a 914. From the posts, it sounds like it's worked out well for him. He made his own adapter. I heard of another conversion a few years ago, not sure how they adapted that one. I am not aware of an off the shelf adapter plate.

I'm going to be putting a a 987.1 6 speed into a 914 racecar. For my purposes 987 is better than 986 because I can change gearsets, which isn't an option with the 986. I'm planning to work with a shop called Top Tuning who has done a 997 trans to 911 conversion. Evidence suggests the parts may be similar. More to come on that this winter when I can dig into it. He's on the Pelican forum, you may have seen his posts.

I don't know of anyone who has done the Boxster transmission with a Type IV engine, though. No demand for it as far as I can tell; the 901 trans is more than up to the job of keeping up with the regular four-cylinder motor.

Someone did a complete Boxster drivetrain swap into a 914. I didn't think that would work, but they managed it!

Boxster transaxle would be mated to a 911 6cyl engine not a 914 or VW engine. Trying to find contact info for Clay Perrine to see what path he took to make it work.
